The Gap We Aim to Fill
While there are several kidney-focused organizations doing exceptional work, NEKC is uniquely positioned to address specific gaps that are often overlooked.

Health Equity Focus
NEKC is dedicated exclusively to the intersection of kidney care and health equity. We focus on the social determinants of health and the systemic barriers that contribute to disparities in kidney care, particularly among minority and underserved populations.

Collaboration Across Sectors
We foster collaboration not just within the nephrology community, but across multiple sectors, including public policy, community health, and patient advocacy. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to tackle complex issues from various angles.

WHO WE ARE
Ensuring Equitable Access to Optimal Kidney Care
We're building NEKC to include membership from a diverse group of nephrologists across various sectors, including academia, public health and policy. We're under the umbrella of our larger organization, The National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF). Our members are passionate about health equity and are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of those disproportionately affected by kidney disease.

The Kidney Patient Act & Its Impact on Health Disparities
Click here to view info on the Kidney Patient Act! As proposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), seeks to include Phosphate Lowering Therapies (PLTs) within the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) payment bundle. While intended to streamline costs, this policy change threatens to exacerbate disparities in kidney care, particularly for minoritized populations who are already disproportionately affected by kidney disease.
